Extracurriculars
College applications typically include an additional essay to speak on extracurricular activities. Many students believe this is the opportunity to describe their greatest achievement – however, stories of passion, leadership, and impact are often more compelling.
Here are some important questions to answer as you begin to craft this portion of your story…
Have you spent significant time outside of the classroom participating in an activity?
Have you displayed leadership in this commitment?
Is this commitment well known, or will it be difficult or vague to explain?
Have you been successful in this activity?
Does speaking on this commitment allow you to show a side of yourself not communicated in your main essay?
Can you tell a passionate and high-quality story about your involvement?
Can you tell this story in a unique and creative way?
Do you plan on continuing this involvement in college?
