ACT Test

The ACT is a standardized test used by most colleges to make admissions decisions. The test is designed to test a students “readiness” for college. Although students can also take the SAT, the test has recently been revised and exists as a “New SAT.” We at CoPilotU believe the ACT is a more accurate representation of what students learn in high school, and at the moment in our opinion is a more direct and consistent exam to prepare for. 

Although the ACT is only a part of your application alongside GPA and personal statement, and the “fairness” of its existence is up for debate, it is the metric that is used to compare all applicants quantitatively.

The test is separated into the five main subject areas below…

ACT Subject Areas

45 minute section with 75 questions. Tests sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, and modifiers..

60 minute section with 60 questions. Tests algebra, geometry, trigonometry and some pre-calculus concepts.

35 minute section with 40 questions. Reading passages testing main ideas of a story, details, and comparisons.

35 minute section with 40 questions. Tests graph and chart analysis, viewpoints and data recall.

40 minute optional section (but we highly recommend completion). Response to given prompt about a broad social issue.
