Academic History
Many students feel anxiety about their high school GPA. Although GPA is an important metric for admissions in their decision making process, it is not an “end all be all.”
Although it is not imperative to explain every grade on your transcript, supplemental essays allow you to address stand out circumstances.
Here are some important questions to answer as you begin to craft this portion of your story…
Do you have a relevant explanation for a stand out low grade?
Was the grade in a core curriculum class or elective?
Are you focusing on one stand out grade, or a trend over time?
Did your GPA improve over the course of high school?
Did you pursue AP or IB classes, and why?
Are you being too particular in addressing your GPA, or is it substantial?
Have you taken college classes outside of what was required?
Was your high school program particularly competitive?
